Paralympic Rights Sold

NHK has been awarded the rights to broadcast the 2014 and 2016 Paralympic Games.

NHK will broadcast 29 hours of coverage for the Sochi Paralympics, and 46 hours from Rio on two free-to-air channels. Both games will have the Opening Ceremonies broadcast live, a first for the Paralympics in Japan.

As part of the agreement, NHK will also broadcast two of the following Para-World Championships before December 31, 2016: athletics, swimming, alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, and ice sledge hockey.

"We are absolutely delighted to extend our long-term and extremely strong partnership with NHK for a further four years," IPC president Phil Craven said in a statement.

"The deal means more Paralympic coverage than ever before in Japan and far greater promotion in advance of the Games. It provides the perfect platform for us to build upon in the years leading up to Tokyo 2020."

USOC Charity Sponsor

American retailer JCPenney will allow customers to round all purchases up to the nearest dollar to donate the difference to the United States Olympic Committee.

"We are grateful to JCPenney and its customers for supporting our Olympians, Paralympians, and hopefuls," Lisa Baird, USOC chief marketing officer, said in a statement.

The initiative is part of JCPenney’s charitable giving program, which will fund resources for America’s elite athletes.

"We are inspired by the commitment America’s elite athletes put forth to achieve their goals, and with the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games just around the corner, we join fans of Team USA in celebrating their accomplishments."

Rugby Awards Title Sponsor

Compucenter will sponsor the Rugby Players Association Player’s Awards for the 14th year.

The award ceremony will be held on May 21, 2014 in London.

"This is the 14th consecutive year we have been involved in the awards and we are extremely proud of the longevity of our relationship with the RPA," Clare Rafferty, head of corporate events at Computacenter said in a statement.

"The work the association carries out within the rugby community is outstanding and we look forward to supporting them and the players again for the 2014/2015 season."
