20 Sponsors for Tokyo
Sega Sammy Holdings and Nippon Life Insurance Company are the newest sponsors to sign with Tokyo 2020.
Wednesday’s deals with the life insurance leader and interactive entertainment specialist make an even 20 bid partners for Japan’s latest Olympics campaign.
"The Tokyo 2020 marketing program has been very successful, and its engagement with corporate partners is far tighter than that was in the previous bid," says a statement from Tokyo 2020 to Around the Rings.
"Those bid partners are proactively leveraging such partner benefits as use of the bid logo for their brand and/or product promotions. Those advertising campaigns by the major brands can be observed everyday in TVs, OOHs, everywhere, which have a significant impact on building momentum in public's perception in Japan toward the host city election on Sept. 7."
Madrid and Istanbul are the other two cities vying for hosting rights to the 2020 Olympics.
"In Tokyo 2020's financial forecast, we estimate total amount of local sponsorship, official supplier and licensing revenue to be 1,072 million USD," Tokyo 2020 tells ATR.
"We promised to international federations in a presentation at the SportAccord Convention in St. Petersburg that Tokyo 2020 will be a seven-year partnership to develop sport, with a shared goal of helping all sports grow in the vast market of Asia and worldwide."
"Wishing Wall" by Turkcell
Young fans voice support for Istanbul 2020 in paintings on a "Wishing Wall".
The wall, provided by the Turkish telecommunications company Turkcell, stood near the finish line of the 25th Cross-Continental Bosphorus Swim on Sunday. The 6.5 km open water swimming competition begins in Asia and ends in Europe.
"Turkey has 20 million people under the age of 20," said Istanbul 2020 CEO Ali Kiremitcioglu.
"Sport in Turkey is becoming ever more popular and 2020 would be the perfect time for Turkey and the Olympic Movement to have an Olympic and Paralympic Games in Istanbul. It will accelerate our sports development and activate new audiences for the sports movement within Turkey and throughout the region."
According to Kiremitcioglu, the "Wishing Wall" represents a way for youngsters "to display their own flair and passionate support for Istanbul 2020".
The IOC will decide Sept. 7 whether Madrid, Istanbul or Tokyo will host the 2020 Summer Olympics.
HP Sponsors Spurs
The world's largest technology company is the newest sponsor of Tottenham Hotspur.
HP, based in USA, will be the Premier League club's principal partner for the 2013/2014 season, according to Monday’s announcement.
Under terms of the deal, HP is actually extending a sponsorship agreement between the Spurs and Autonomy PLC, who has been a partner since 2010 and was acquired by HP in 2011.
"We are delighted to welcome the HP brand back to the Club having previously been a Club partner in the 90's," said Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy.
"HP has established itself as one of the world's leading technology companies and we look forward to working with them once again for the coming season."
