Sochi 2014 drives Volkswagen
There will be more Volkswagens cruising Sochi's streets leading up and during the 2014 Winter Olympics.
The Russian branch of Volkswagen Group has just become a Tier One partner for Sochi 2014 Olympics and Paralympics.
VolksGroup Russia will provide 3,000 Volkswagan, Audi and Skoda vehicles to Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee. Most of the cars will be made in Russia.
“This is a major agreement for Sochi 2014 in an important category," said CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko in a statement.
"Volkswagen is one of the world’s best known companies, with a strong presence in Russia. We look forward to working closely with Volkswagen Group Rus and are already impressed by their commitment to excellence and innovation, which are just two of the principles we share at Sochi 2014.”
Sochi 2014 have collected more than $750 million for sponsorships this year. Volkswagen Group Russia is Sochi's sixth tier one sponsor. The others are Rostelecom, Megafon, Rosneft, Sberbank and Areoflot.
Ohno flying Alaska Airlines

Seattle-based Alaska Airlines is sponsoring www.followapolo.com. The Web site is currently in a start up phase but will eventually have Ohno's blog, video and training tips.
Ohno, a native of the Seattle area, is expected to be one of the stars of Olympics. He has 11 national championships, 18 world championships and five Olympics medals including two golds. Ohno won his first gold in the 1500 meters at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games and won his second medal in the 500 meters at the 2006 Turin Games.
"As one of the greatest U.S. short-track speed skaters of our generation and a Northwest native, we feel Apolo Ohno is a natural fit with our airline," said Steve Jarvis, Alaska Airlines' vice president of marketing, sales and customer experience in a releases .
Financial terms of the deal were not released.
The 27-year old started speed skating competitively at the age of 14. When he was 17, he became the youngest speed skater to win a World Cup Event. Vancouver 2010 would be his third Olympic appearance.
"My racing career started in Vancouver and that experience changed my life," Ohno said in statement. "Coming back to my roots in the Pacific Northwest to compete for my sixth medal is especially meaningful, and it is an honor to partner with my hometown airline in the most important race of my life."
Ohno is a household name in the United States. In 2007, he won the TV show Dancing with the Stars.
Bundesliga joins Soccerex 09 sponsors
The Bundesliga and its commercial arm DFL Sports Enterprises signed a sponsorship deal with Soccerex 09, a global football convention of business leaders in the sport. Besides advertisements in the Soccerex's program, the sponsorship package also includes a networking reception and branding of the event delegate bags. Soccerex 09 will take place from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
