Lausanne, 14 November 2019 - As of today, special Lausanne 2020 stamps will be available at all post offices across the country. As a result of the collaboration between Swiss Post and the Organising Committee, these stamps will allow the colours of Lausanne to be seen across Switzerland until the end of the Games. An official ceremony was held in the presence of representatives of Lausanne 2020 and Swiss Post in Fribourg on the occasion of the arrival of the Olympic flame in the city.

Today’s a great day for the philatelists and Olympic fans of Switzerland! Booklets of one-franc stamps branded in the colours of Lausanne 2020 are now available for sale at all post offices. These special edition stamps are not merely intended to be a collectors’ item, but also one to be used by everyone throughout Switzerland as an additional touch that will contribute to spread the spirit of the Games to all four corners of the country.

To mark the occasion, a handover ceremony was held in Fribourg, where the Lausanne 2020 Olympic Torch arrived today. A large stamp was symbolically presented by Bernhard Kallen, representing Swiss Post, to Virginie Faivre and Ian Logan, respectively President and CEO of the Organizing Committee.

Designed by artist Aurel Märki, the stamp echoes the world of Lausanne 2020 and its symbols. The use of the Games’ distinctive blue and pink colours, the Vortex, heart of the Olympic Village of Lausanne where 1,700 athletes and accompanying persons will live under the same roof, the Swiss Alps in the background, not to mention Yodli, the mascot, smiling at us. We observe on the booklet the Olympic values of "excellence, respect, and friendship" as well as "Swissness": four words that, together, reflect the vision of Lausanne 2020.

Ian Logan, CEO of Lausanne 2020: "Swiss Post is one of the pillars of Switzerland, one of the few companies present in every canton, in every town and village in our country. This stamp is a strong symbol of its support and will allow everyone in Switzerland to participate in the spirit of Lausanne 2020 in the coming months."

Bernhard Kallen, Head of "Stamps and Philately" products at Swiss Post: "In old age, memories have the same value as youth dreams. Lausanne 2020 lives the dreams of youth while this special stamp preserves memories".
