Secretary General Kim Yoon-suk, of the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade Organizing Committee (hereafter GUOC 2015), attended the special luncheon held by the British Embassy, and had the opportunity to discuss cooperation through sports with the UK.

The event held in Seoul was jointly organized by the British Embassy and the British Chamber of Commerce to share the legacy and values of the Olympics with South Korea, which is hosting mega-sporting events, as the 2012 London Olympics was successfully held. Sebastian Coe, the Chairman of the London Olympics Organizing Committee (also Chairman of the British Olympic Association), was in attendance and gave a lecture on ‘Olympic Games and the legacy of the Olympics.’

This event was attended by not only the organizers of the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade but also organizers of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games and the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, as well as other representatives from UK’s sports corporations to discuss know-hows on preparing for such mega-sporting events and the means for development of communities and next generations through sports.

Secretary General Kim Yoon-suk had a separate meeting with Sebastian Coe to request cooperation and support for the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade.

Secretary General Kim emphasized, "The 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade is preparing to leave many legacies in the history of the sporting world," and requested to Chairman Coe for "the largest delegation of British athletes to participate at the 2015 Gwangju Universiade."
