NOC Warnings
Two European National Olympic Committees received threats ahead of the Sochi Olympics.
The Slovenian and Hungarian NOCs received handwritten treats in Russian. The Slovenian NOC handed the matter over to the police, while the IOC concluded the threat against Hungarian athletes was not serious.
"The IOC treats security issues very seriously and forwards any reliable information to the security services," an IOC spokesperson said to R-Sport.
"However, it appears that in this case, the letter sent to the HOC does not contain any threat."
According to reports in RIA Novosti, other European NOCs have received similar threats.
Sochi organizers have also conducted investigations into the threats, and said the author of the letters has been sending them to various competing countries ahead of the Olympics.
Norway Curling Uniforms
The Norwegian curling team released their 2014 Olympic curling uniforms.
This edition features a red, white, and blue zig-zag pattern on the pants and jacket.
Norway took home the silver medal in Vancouver donning red, white, and blue diamond patterned pants, which became a sensation during the Games.
Comedian Mocks Anti-Gay Legislation
American comedian Jon Stewart mocked Russia’s anti-gay legislation on his television program, "The Daily Show."
In the segment entitled "2014 Sochi Homophobic Olympics," Stewart compared homophobia in Nigeria, Uganda, India, the United States, and Russia in a competition for homophobic "gold."
Nigeria, Uganda, and India have criminalized homosexuality in the months ahead of the Olympic Games.
