Midway throught the ATR Golden 25, Sochi 2014 leader Dmitry Chernyshenko, Rio 2016 president Carlos Nuzman, and NOC leaders are among those who have been named most influential in the Olympic Movement for 2011.

"Number-one spot for 2011 will have an impact on the IOC and the Olympic Movement for years to come, not just 2011," said ATR editor Ed Hula about the Golden 25 rankings. Hula first published the Golden 25 in 1997, making the 2011 edition year 15.

Some equally well-known names and some less famous names have been suggested for the #1 spot by ATR readers.

"The Golden 25 is one of our most eagerly anticipated features. In the months leading up to the countdown, we get so many phone calls and emails lobbying for different people that we decided to give our readers the opportunity to officially submit their suggestions for #1," said ATR publisher Sheila Scott Hula.

"So far about two dozen people have been nominated, ranging from Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to Manolo Romero, head of host broadcasting operations," said Hula.

The #1 spot for Golden 25 and Golden 25: Readers’ Choice will be announced on Jan. 3.

Voting for Readers’ Choice ends midnight (ET)Wednesday, Dec. 29.
