(ATR) Debbie Jevans resigns her post as Chief Executive of England 2015.

Jevans, one of the world's leading sports execs, cites "personal reasons" for her departure.

"This is the right decision for me to make at this time. I am immensely proud of the team and all that we have achieved in the time that I have been Chief Executive," Jevans said in a statement.

"I am confident my team will deliver an exceptional tournament. The organisation is strong, there is a great team in place and I am really looking forward to watching the Rugby World Cup as a fan later this year."

The 2015 Rugby World Cup is less than six months away, and media reports have described the resignation as "a shock."

England 2015 thanked Jevans for her service in a statement saying, under her leadership"plans for the tournament in excellent shape."

Jevans joined England 2015 in October 2012 after serving as director of sport for the London 2012 Olympics.
