Chinese Mountaineering Association (CMA) and the People’s Government of Changzhi are running the next IFSC Lead & Speed World Cup 2011. The event is taking place today (Spetember, 7) and tomorrow (September,8) in the Chinese Shanxi Province City of Changzhi, at the City Sports Center.A considerable number of athletes is competing in the two disciplines. 99 climbers from 17 different countries have registered for this event. The teams of China, Indonesia, Japan, Chinese Taipei and Russia are among the largest.

The Speed World Cup 2011 is at its final event. 19 women and 21 men are rivaling in this last round for the title and medal of IFSC World Cup Champion 2011. All the most skilled and victorious athletes of the discipline are ready to run: Maria Krasavina, from Russia, new women speed record holder, with a time of 8.87 and her country fellows Ksenia Alexseeva, Yulia Levochkina, Sergey Sinitsyn, Sergey Abdrakhmanov; Edyta Ropek and Lukasz Swirk from Poland and the Chinese Qixin Zhong.

In the Lead competition, fourth event of the season out of ten, 23 women & 36 men are climbing on the routes set under the supervision of the chiefroutsetter Leonardo Marino (ITA). Among the athletes the leaders of the world cup ranking 2011: Jackob Schubert (AUT), Mina Markovic (SLO), Sachi Amma (JPN), Manuel Romain (FRA), Kim Jain (KOR), Katarina Posh (AUT), Maja Vidmar (SLO), Ramón Julian Puigblanque (ESP).

According to the schedule, Lead qualifications are running on Wednesday, 7 from 10 am (CET 4 am ) Chinese Time, while Speed qualifications at 4 pm (CET 10 am). The competitions program continues on Thursday, 8 at 10 am (CET 4 am) with Lead semifinals; Speed and Lead Finals will be run on the same day at respectively 2 pm (CET 8 am) and 5 pm (CET 11 am).
