Seminar on Shaikh Nasser Award held

The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) staged a seminar on this year’s edition of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Scientific Research Award in the field of sports.

The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) staged a seminar on this year’s edition of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Scientific Research Award in the field of sports.

The award, in its third edition, aims at promote positive attitudes towards scientific research to create knowledge and contribute to the development of sports movement.

Attended by more than 400 physical education teachers from the Ministry of Education, the seminar was to officially introduce the 2015 award to the participants.

A special film was presented on this occasion to kick off the seminar programme, then award general secretary Dr Abdulrahman Sayyar gave his opening remarks, in which he commended the idea of allowing entries from all Arab countries aged from 18 to 26.

Sayyar noted that the award seeks to achieve a distinctive leadership research that would contribute to building an intellectual society in the field of sports, and noted that mission of the of the award which is to establish community partnership to conduct and produce applied scientific research in bid to develop sports movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain, specific, and in the Arab world, in general.

Among main objectives of the award is to encourage experts and researchers, locally and regionally, to conduct applied scientific research to develop sports movement and improve the level of performance in all areas of sports.

Other goals is to support the scientific research in accordance with the sports community needs, locally and regionally, honouring pioneers in scientific research in the field of sports, locally and regionally, besides promoting positive attitudes towards scientific research in the field of sports to enrich knowledge and contribute to the development of the sports movement.

Also present were BOC general secretary and award executive office head Abdulrahman Askar, Ministry of Education’s physical education head Essam Abdulla and ministry officials.

The winner in each part of the award will receive a certificate of appreciation, signed by Shaikh Nasser, in addition to a cash prize and commemorative gift-bearing symbol of the award.
