On 6 February, one the eve of the Olympic Games start, Ded Moroz, the Russian Santa Claus, will set up his Residence at the Olympic Park in Sochi.
His show will provide entertainment for children and guests of the Games, who will be treated to dancing, singing, workshops in traditional crafts and fun sport activities. Throughout the Olympic and the Paralympic Games, Ded Moroz – who became an official ambassador in 2009 - will cheer on the Russian athletes, encouraging them to set new world records.
The Ded Moroz' home will take its place in the Russian regions exposition in the Olympic Park. His home will consist of a carved hut and a hall for official meetings with Santa, a folk arts and crafts shop, Ded Moroz' post office and, of course, a tall Christmas tree.
On the stage area of the Residence, creative teams from all over Russia will be performing, and winter magicians will come to visit Ded Moroz not only from all over Russia, but also from other countries.
Ded Moroz' Workshop
An exposition of Vologda folk crafts will be presented in Ded Moroz' workshop. This includes Vologda lace, blackening on silver of Veliky Ustyug, shemogodskaya carving on birch bark, wood painting. Everyone will be able to master the basics of the folk art of the Russian North here - weaving vines, bark carving, painting and lace. A part of Ded Moroz' costumes collection will also be presented at the workshop.
Ded Moroz' Post Office
Everyone will be able to write a letter to Ded Moroz, asking him to grant them one wish. Each and every person who writes to Ded Moroz will receive a reply.
