As host of Olympics 2012, London will welcome millions of visitors during the summer for an unforgettable experience. For many, part of that experience will stretch beyond the celebration of sporting excellence to include visits to the capital’s places of cultural and artistic excellence too.

Ronnie Scott’s is the UK’s most famous jazz club,. With headline performances and late night sessions in its main club alongside an eclectic programme of live music and DJ sets in its upstairs Ronnie’s Bar, there is something for everyone.

In Celebration of the London 2012 Olympics, Ronnie Scott’s will itself host a series of events to satisfy those seeking to take time out from the sporting extravaganza, exploring the capitals cultural scene, or simply looking for late night entertainment once the last race has been run.

AL JARREAU

For the opening night of these very special celebrations, Ronnie Scott’s presents a rare chance to experience one of the world’s most universally popular artists in an intimate setting. For one night only, vocalist Al Jarreau brings the dynamic electricity of his live appearances to Ronnie Scott’s.

Al Jarreau has "that thing" that makes him a great musical artist. Something that makes his every performance a memorable experience - whenever he stands in front of a microphone, smiles his engaging smile, and lets the music flow. Known for his soaring version of We’re In This Love Together, his brilliantly improvisational Take Five, and singing tender, deeply touching ballads as well as his indefinable charisma, Al Jarreu is one of world’s most precious treasures. With a career now spanning a remarkable, five decade-plus, seven Grammy Awards, and scores of international music awards, his innovative musical expressions have made him one of the most exciting and critically-acclaimed performers of our time

OLYMPIC CLASSIC JAZZ SERIES

Throughout Olympic fortnight, Ronnie Scott’s presents its Classic Jazz Series of concerts. Each evening the club’s award-winning house band, The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars perform a set of classic jazz as well as recount some famous and entertaining stories that have gone on in the club’s 53 years history.

Following that, audiences will be treated to a set from some of the UK’s finest jazz musicians. Each night has a different theme, with each band presenting the music of some of the past legends that have played at the club, such as Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson and Buddy Rich alongside other favourites such as Frank Sinatra, George Gershwin and Ray Charles

THE LATE LATE SHOW

Each night, when the headliners have played their final note, the club remains open for a more informal late night session where some of the UK’s finest jazz talents take to the stage. Recreating the glamour of the legendary jazz joints of 1950’s New York’s 52nd Street, The Late Late Show is where ‘in the know’ Londoners come in search of an after hours drink and to rub shoulders with Soho night-owls, high and low rollers, musicians and visitors from around the world. Often big names in town will drop by and sit in- Wynton Marsalis, Macy Gray, Jamie Cullum and Joss Stone have all made past appearances, as have the entire cast of Michael Buble's Big Band!

Throughout the Olympic fortnight, Ronnie Scott’s internationally acclaimed in-house piano star James Pearson invite a nightly changing cast of some of the UK’s very best jazz talent.
