SVG Europe is delighted to announce that Roger Mosey, the BBC’s Director of London 2012, will provide the Opening Address at SVG Europe’s inaugural Sport Tech UK 2012: Summer of Sport Summit that will take place at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on Thursday 29th March.
As head of the BBC 2012 team, Roger is responsible for planning all the Olympic-related events taking place this year including the Torch Relay, the London 2012 Festival; Games-time coverage across all platforms and services; and content inspired by the Olympics including drama, comedy and factual. His Opening Address will highlight how the BBC will be covering these core elements of the London 2012 journey and using all platforms to engage with both the UK public and a wider global audience.
Roger's previous roles include being Editor of Today on BBC Radio 4; Controller of BBC Radio 5 Live; Head of BBC Television News; and most recently, the BBC’s Director of Sport.
During his tenure at BBC Sport, Roger oversaw the coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the 2008 Beijing Olympics, as well as the return of Formula 1 to the BBC.
Roger also led the BBC’s ‘Sport Creative Future’ project that put greater emphasis on digital media and which has delivered considerable growth in audiences online and through interactive services.
Roger will join a range of high profile speakers already confirmed from Sky Sports, ESPN, London 2012, BBC Sport Interactive, Channel 4, IMG, Input Media, the All England Lawn Tennis Club, CTV, the Press Association, PERFORM and Quicken Media.
These key broadcasters, facilities companies and sports properties will gather together to discuss topics of importance to the UK sports production industry on several illuminating panels (see http://svgeurope.org/sport-tech-uk/full-program/). These will cover issues such as The State of UK Sports Production; OB Perspectives; Producing The Iconic Events of the Summer of 2012; and Producing a Digital Olympics.
As well as benefiting from the insights of industry leaders, delegates will find that generous refreshment breaks and an evening cocktail party will provide them with excellent networking opportunities for industry professionals working in UK broadcasting production.
