In Tokyo, Hyland will be working his 10th Olympics for NBC Sports. He previously served as the lead producer for two of the Games’ most-watched sports – track & field since the 2012 London Olympics and figure skating since the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014.

NBC Olympics’ primetime show will air live across all time zones each night on NBC from Friday, July 23 through Sunday, August 8, and will be hosted by Mike Tirico.

"Rob has excelled in every production role he has worked at NBC Sports, and we are excited to have him lead our primetime NBC presentation," said Molly Solomon, Executive Producer & President, NBC Olympics Production. An 18-time Sports Emmy winner, Hyland is also the coordinating producer of Football Night in America – sports’ most-watched weekly studio show – Notre Dame Football, and Triple Crown horse racing. Hyland will serve as NBC Sports’ lead producer of the Kentucky Derby for the 10th time next Saturday, May 1 (2:30 p.m. ET on NBC).

NBC Olympics will provide unprecedented coverage of the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics on Friday, July 23, creating a full day of Olympic programming on NBC that culminates in what is always one of the most-watched nights in television with the primetime presentation of the Ceremony.
