(ATR) Brazilian sports minister Ricardo Leyser tells Around the Rings the 2016 Olympics are the best prepared mega-sporting event four months out that the country has hosted.
Leyser, who has been involved in the sports ministry for over a decade, spoke after the first day of the tenth and final IOC Rio 2016 Coordination Commission. Leyser was part of planning the 2007 Pan American Games, the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics.
"We have all the venues almost done, with only small problems," Leyser told ATR. "This allows us to match all the problems to the schedules some months before. It is not perfect but I think it is very good."
Leyser admitted there were "thousands of topics" the coordination commission must tackle. But he said the challenge was fitting all the pieces of the puzzle together rather than making sure all of the necessary pieces were present. The minister singled out budgets, energy and transport as some of the prominent topics discussed.
