Rio 2016 Reveals Olympics Sponsorship Program
Rio 2016 promises to raise more than $600 million in sponsorships and licensing, according tothe Olympic Games Commercial Plan it revealed this month.
The organizing committee forecasts $270 million dollars domestic investment, $288 million dollars in foreign funds and another $45 million in licensing.
The host city will use advertising agencies to help with the plan.
"The agencies will play a crucial role not only before their clients, but also in the creation of moving and successful campaigns," Rio 2016 president Carlos Arthur Nuzman said.
Organizers will present details at a sponsorship event in Rio slated for Nov. 25.
McDonald’s Sales Increase
TOP sponsor McDonald’s reports a 12 percent increase in global sales in its third quarter financial report.
"McDonald’s customer focus, menu innovation and the ongoing modernization of our restaurants continue to drive our business momentum," CEO Jim Skinner said in a press release.
"As we continue to invest in our business and extend the McDonald’s brand, I am confident that we will create even more ways to satisfy consumers looking for high quality tasting food that’s convenient and affordable."
McDonald’s attributed the increase to "growth across all areas of the world."
Global comparable sales increased in the U.S., Europe, Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
Coca-Cola Says Quarter Results on Track
TOP sponsor Coca-Cola saw its volume increase five percent in the third quarter, ahead of its target, according to the company’s financial report.
The company also said that it is on track after acquiring Coca-Cola Enterprises’ North American business.
"We successfully completed our acquisition of CCE’s North American business and the sale of our Norway and Sweden bottling operations to CCE, on plan and in line with our commitment. And we closed this transaction on the heels of a strong quarter," Coke CEO Muhtar Kent said in a press release.
"We continue to build on our momentum, delivering solid volume, revenue and profit growth this quarter, with our results exceeding all of our long-term targets and generating sustainable value for our shareowners."
Ludus Tours Partners with USA Volleyball
Ludus Tours has signed on to partner with USA Volleyball ahead of the 2012 London Olympics.
The hospitality company will supply custom fan packages which include hotel accommodations, transportation, excursions and local guide assistance for the 2012 Games.
"Being able to partner up with USA Volleyball isa great opportunity for us to reach volleyball fans from around the country, including young athletes hoping to one day represent the United States," Ludus Tours founder Jessica Dailey said.
Ludus Tours also recently partnered with USA Taekwondo and Weightlifting.
