Rio 2016 announces Nielsen as official market research supplier for the Olympic and Paralympic Games

The Rio 2016 Organising Committee today (6 June) signed a partnership with Nielsen confirming the multinational company as the official market research supplier for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Nielsen, which also worked for the London 2012 and Beijing 2008 organising Committees, will be responsible for providing information on public opinion and expectations in relation to the Games.

"It is a great pleasure to have Nielsen as our official supplier," said Rio 2016 President Carlos Nuzman. "For the Beijing and London Games, Nielsen provided the organising committees with excellent, detailed knowledge. Listening to society is fundamental to the organisation of the Games and the information that we receive will be crucial for our decision-making and will become of the great legacies for Brazil."

The contract was signed during a special ceremony at the Rio 2016 headquarters in the Cidade Nova district of the city. Nielsen, which has a presence in more than 110 countries and has operated in Brazil for more than 40 years, highlighted the importance of dialogue with society and the pursuit of excellence in the organisation of the Rio 2016 Games.

"Hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games is a historical moment, that changes a country," said Eduardo Ragasol, President of Nielsen Brazil. "Organising these events is the most important showcase that a country can have. Our mission is to help the Olympic Movement take decisions and support Brazil in delivering the best Games in history. We are totally committed to his goal."
