Riders ready to start the show - CHI AL SHAQAB 2013 International Equestrian Competition

AL SHAQAB, member of Qatar Foundation with the FEI (International Equestrian Federation) will host CHI AL SHAQAB 2013 from March 27 – 30, 2013. Designed to be an inaugural event, the world’s top riders shall compete in this international equestrian competition which comprises of three equestrian disciplines: Jumping (CSI 5* and CSI 3*), Dressage (CDI 4*), and Endurance (CSI 2*).

Speaking at the pre-opening press conference held on 26 March, 2013, organisers, FEI Grand Jury members as well as the athletes agree this promises to be a magnificent chance for the athletes and horses to showcase their talent.

The venue is described by some as simply ‘Wow" as it sets a new standard for the sport. The level of planning and organisation invested in the architecture as well as the event so far leaves the athletes, officials, staff and volunteers with the same feeling of thrill and this before any competition has started.

This event states Kamal Bahamdan, Saudi Arabian Olympic Bronze Medallist and Edwina Alexander a reputed rider representing Australia, is very important to the athletes and the sport itself. Attracting the best athletes from around the world, this type of event is what athletes need to become the best in their sport as they push all; younger and more seasoned riders to improve their skills.

Kamal elaborated on the positive impact of his Olympic medal combined with this event will have on the regional athletes. Europe was the centre of Equestrian Sport until the Americas started hosting top quality events that saw a noticeable growth in that part of the world. The same will happen in the MENA region as a steady growth in the sport has already been witnesses.

Having the 3 and 5 star jumping categories competing at the same event with the bonus of having tis event in our back yard provides prime experience to the riders and coaches.

Without a doubt all expect a great 4 days of performances.

AL SHAQAB is welcoming the world and local public in style - a Spectator Plaza has been set up on the AL SHAQAB grounds for the event and will include a number of vendors, restaurants, entertainment areas, kids zones and, other cultural shows suitable for all members of the family.
