(ATR) The world's newest Olympic Museum opens in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Richmond Olympic Experience (ROX) is the first Olympic Museum to open in North America.
The opening of the ROX was celebrated with a pond full of locally-grown cranberries in front of the museum. The museum served as Vancouver 2010's speed skating venue, known at the time as the Richmond Olympic Oval.
The building’s plaza now features a commemoration of the 2010 torchrelay. The names of every community on the Canada-wide route areembedded in a pathway.
The ROX also features ski jumping, auto racing, sit ski, kayak and bobsleigh sport simulators.
