Ssangyong Information & Communications Corporation (hereafter Ssangyong), a top Asian integrated information and operation services corporation, joins the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 Sponsorship Program.
The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) has signed a domestic official sponsor agreement with Ssangyong in a ceremony held at Ssangyong’s headquarters in Seoul today. The attendees included POCOG Secretary General YEO Hyungkoo and Ssangyong CEO KIM Seung-gi, among others from both organizations.
As a Tier 2 Sponsor for PyeongChang 2018, Ssangyong will develop and operate the official POCOG websites. They also will support POCOG for certain Games systems which form an integral part of the wider integrated PyeongChang 2018 Games-technology solution.
Ssangyong will be able to exercise various marketing rights in the Republic of Korea including use of the "Official Sponsor" intellectual properties, product category exclusivity, and use of the Games emblem in promotional activities.
POCOG Secretary General YEO Hyungkoo said, "We deeply appreciate Ssangyong’s decision to join the POCOG sponsorship program. They have a solid reputation as a Korean Sports System Integration company that has accumulated experience developing websites and operational systems for international mega sporting events. They have worked with the 1986 Seoul Asian Games followed by the 2002 Busan Asian Games, the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan, the 2006 Doha Asian Games, the 2011 Astana-Almaty Asian Games, the 2014 Incheon Asian Games and the 2015 Mungyeong Military World Games.
