(ATR) Construction is underway for ice venues slated to stage competition during the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
On Thursday, POCOG held a groundbreaking ceremony in the Gangeung Coastal Cluster for the 2018 Olympics.
POCOG says nearly 1,000 people attended the ceremony.
The Gangeung Coastal Cluster is the first major venue construction project for the 2018 Games.
Construction on the venues for figure skating, short track skating, ice hockey, and speed skating is scheduled to be competed by October 2016.
The Coastal Cluster already has a small number of sporting venues including an ice rink that will host curling events during the Games.
PyeongChang 2018 says the cluster's construction costs will total $425 million.
