(ATR) The PyeongChang 2018 organizing committee (POCOG) received another top tier sponsor on September 25, inking a deal with SK Group.
SK Group will become the official partner of POCOG in the semiconductors and oil category. Designation as an official partner allows SK Group marketing rights such as claiming partnership with the POCOG, using the Games emblem for promotion and being displayed on their Olympic website.
The official partner is the highest tier of sponsorship available for companies aiming to associate with POCOG. Other tiers of sponsorship include official sponsor and official supplier.
In the past, SK Group has sponsored sporting events such as the 2014 Asian Games and the Gwangju Universiade in 2015.
"SK group has been actively supporting sports development in Korea. We deeply appreciate SK Group’s decision to join the sponsorship program and we are confident that the continued support from the Korean business community will help us deliver successful Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games," said POCOG president Yang-ho Cho.
Holland Heineken House in Heart of Rio
For the 13th time, Heineken will organize the Netherlands Olympic Committee national house at the Rio 2016 Games.
Heineken has welcomed athletes, families, friends, media, Olympic fans and international visitors to the Holland House since the 1992 Summer Games in Barcelona, Spain.
The Heineken Holland House (HHH) will be located in the heart of Rio de Janeiro and the Games in Ipanema at the Copacabana Olympic Zone. The Copacabana Olympic Zone will be home to beach volleyball, cycling time trials and rowing venues.
Heineken says this is the closest to the Olympics the HHH has ever been. The HHH expects to receive nearly 4,000 visitors on a daily basis.
"The Holland Heineken House is, for many, a home away from home and as such is incredibly important to Team NL. All our athletes look forward to the customary HHH ceremony which celebrates a Team NL member winning a medal. The HHH also gives them peace of mind that their families are well taken care of," said NOC chief executive officer Gerard Dielessen.
Flow Makes 5-Year Deal with TTOC
The official broadcast sponsor for the Pan-Caribbean area during the Rio 2016 Olympics has agreed to a deal with the Trinidad & Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC).
Flow, a subsidiary of Columbus Communications Trinidad, becomes the official telecommunications partner of the TTOC for the next five years, running past the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
In return, Flow is showing support for the TTOC’s drive to obtain 10 gold medalists by the Olympics in 2024. Flow will make an annual contribution of $1 million, with $600,000 going to the athletes and the remaining $400,000 for brand ambassador representation.
"It truly is a privilege to be a part of this partnership with TTOC and the wider Olympic Family which started months ago. The journey to those 10 golds for 2024 is truly underway. Join us as we showcase the skills and talents of Trinidad and Tobago and the rest of the Caribbean," said Columbus Communications Trinidad managing director Brian Collins.
The funds from Flow will be deposited into TTOC’s Athlete Welfare and Preparation Fund.
