A worldwide public survey will be launched today to select the Look Design that will be the artistic branding on all Games facilities and promotional items for the 2018 Winter Games.
The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) will hold a Look Motifs Exhibition & Survey at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), Seoul, from November 11 to 17 in a bid to select the best Look Design that will animate the 2018 Games.
Fourteen renowned artists recommended by National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Korea Institute of Design Promotion participated in this special national event to develop graphic motifs for the Look of the 2018 Games. The results of their artwork depicting PyeongChang’s Vision and Slogan will be showcased to promote Korea’s winter sports to the world and contribute to the successful hosting of the Games.
In line with the exhibition, POCOG will also open a public survey of Preferred Graphic Motifs for the Look of the 2018 Game through an online and offline poll that will be evaluated by the Selection Committee, in order to finally identify the best design. The online poll is now available here as well as on the official Facebook account (www.facebook.com/PyeongChang2018).
Prior to the official launch of the exhibition, a special Opening Ceremony was held on November 10 attended by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, KIM Jongdeok, POCOG Secretary General, YEO Hyungkoo, and the participant artists.
Celebrating the opening of the exhibition, Minister KIM Jongdeok addressed the attendees, "The Look Motifs Exhibition is a significant milestone to showcase the convergence of culture and sports. With the selection of the Games Look Design, we expect that the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 will promote Korea as a cultural power to the world."
The final artwork that will be chosen at the Look Motifs Exhibition, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Seoul Design Foundation, will be developed as the official Look Design of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.
