Heads of the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) got together in the 2018 Olympic Host City of PyeongChang today and discussed cooperation.

Welcoming Shaw to PyeongChang, Lee said "PyeongChang is 3~4 ℃ cooler than Seoul metropolitan region, so it’s good to visit all-year round, not only during the winter ski season."

Shaw replied "The Olympic venues look great and it looks like preparations are going well. PyeongChang will become a completely different place after the Games and feel tremendous economic development – like Vail or Park City in the US."

"I will come back to Korea early next year for the Women’s Alpine World Cup races where Lindsay Vonn will run. And we have a Korean-American female snowboarder, Chloe Kim, who is aiming to compete at the 2018 Olympics."

Explaining that everyone at POCOG, including POCOG Executive Vice President of International Relations KIM Jae-youl who joined the meeting, has recently moved from Seoul to PyeongChang to add momentum to the remaining Games preparations, Lee asked Shaw for support adding "I hope the USSA can help us in gathering international winter sports fans’ interest towards the PyeongChang 2018 Games through next seasons’ Alpine World Cup which will be held in Korea. The experience of the USSA will also be helpful in building our organizational expertise."
