We are pleased to be sponsors of the upcoming exhibit at the California African American Museum titled Politics, Race, and Propaganda: The Nazi Olympics, Berlin 1936. Much of our work focuses on promoting the values of positive sport now and in the future, and we firmly believe understanding history's role in sport today is crucial as we attempt to make progress in the world of sport.
This exhibit features historic photographs and documents, riveting films, Olympics regalia and promotional materials, along with first-person accounts that tell the stories of athletes who were barred because of their ethnic heritage, those who boycotted the Games in protest, and the African Americans who competed and won a total of fourteen medals, refuting the Nazi myth of "Aryan" supremacy.
The exhibit runs in Los Angeles October 19, 2016 - February 26, 2017, and more information may be found at CAAM's website.
We thank the California African American Museum for hosting this exhibit, which is produced by the United States Holocaust Museum and presented by the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games.

GSD Supports World Curling
For several years now we have supported the Olympic Celebration Tour, a program from the World Curling Federation.
The tour recently made a stop in Riga, Latvia with Jamie Korab, the lead of the Canadian curling team which won the gold medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino. He and Darrell Ell from WCF visited local schools to teach youth how to curl and invited community members for a Learn to Curl session at the Latvia Curling Association. A couple of our favorite snapshots from the visit are below.
