POCOG and the Olympic Broadcasting Service (OBS) to Co-host World Broadcasters Briefing in PyeongChang

The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) and the Olympic Broadcasting Service (OBS) will co-host the World Broadcasters Briefing (WBB) at the PyeongChang Alpensia Resort, Korea, from March 9 to March 13 for 5 days.

The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) and the Olympic Broadcasting Service (OBS) will co-host the World Broadcasters Briefing (WBB) at the PyeongChang Alpensia Resort, Korea, from March 9 to March 13 for 5 days.

The briefing which will serve as a prelude to the World Broadcasters Meetings (WBMs) to be held in 2016 and 2017 will be attended by some 63 participants including Yiannis Exarchos, CEO of OBS, and representatives from 9 major Olympic Rights Holding Broadcasters including NBC (U.S), BBC (UK) and CCTV (China) to name a few.

This opportunity will allow the OBS and RHBs to have a chance to view and gather information about the site for the International Broadcasting Center (IBC) and let them tour the Broadcasting facilities in the Competition Venues which they will use during the Olympic Games in 2018. The participants will also be briefed by POCOG on all the functional areas and their technical capabilities.

During March 4 to 8 a delegation from OBS conducted a venue survey, visiting all the competition venues in PyeongChang, Gangneung and Jeongseon in order to establish the broadcasting production plan.
