(ATR) The Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) met in Miami last Saturday to discuss final preparations and to resolve any outstanding issues before the Pan American Games get underway in two weeks.

Members of the PASO executive committee met with leaders of the Toronto 2015 organizing committee including chief executive officer Saad Rafi. The only topics on the agenda were preparations for the upcoming Pan Am Games.

Around the Rings spoke with general secretary of the Grenada Olympic Committee Veda Bruno-Victor about the topics covered in the meeting. Bruno-Victor is also a member of the PASO executive committee.

Bruno-Victor tells ATR that any issues with the Toronto 2015 organizing committee have been completely resolved and Toronto is ready to host the games.

"There’s been a lot of work in Toronto. We’ve ensured all athletes and teams will have housing, all the sports we want will be televised and everything is in place. By the time we get to Toronto in two weeks, all will be ready. There are no problems whatsoever," said Bruno-Victor.

Discussions during the meeting ranged from resolving team travel issues and transportation as well as broadcasting coverage of the competition. Both parties wanted to ensure their expectations were at the same level for all aspects of the games.

A spokesman from Toronto 2015 tells ATR, "Toronto 2015 and PASO are fully aligned on service levels and are focused 100% on the delivery of an unforgettable Games."

Last week before the executive meeting, Toronto hosted a test run of the new athletes village for the Pan Ams. Members of the media were invited to tour and spend the night in the village.

On July 1, some officials from NOCs will begin arriving to the athletes village during the pre-opening period. Athletes are then allowed to arrive at the village beginning on July 5, five days before the opening ceremonies on July 10.

Some athletes will need the extra time in the village before the games officially begin due to their competitions starting before the opening ceremonies. Athletes competing in water polo unofficially kick off the Pan Ams with matches beginning on July 7. The first day of competition for synchronized swimmers will be July 9.

Next up for the PASO executive committee will be the final meeting before the Pan Ams on July 6, preceding the PASO General Assembly meeting.
