Jean-François Martins, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of Sports and Tourism, will participate in the 2nd edition of Generation Marateens.
Supported by the City of Paris, this program allows young people from 9 to 12 from the neighborhoods to discover the running, at the Paris Marathon.
Wednesday, March 29, 800 young people aged 9 to 12 years, from the neighborhoods of the 11th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 19th and 20th districts will be welcomed from 14h30 to 17h at INSEP for the 3rd highlight of the second edition of "Generation Marateens" in the presence of Jean-François Martins, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of sports and tourism.
The "Generation Marateens" program was launched in February 2016 by the City of Paris and Amaury Sport Organisation, in order to allow young Parisians to participate in sessions of initiations running with coaches and athletes, as well as fun and educational workshops on physical activity.
The program, a sports relay district in the stadium, the discovery of the sports where the greatest champions will LEAD, a meeting with the athletes, but also a projection of clips on life at INSEP and the Paris Marathon . This day will also be placed under the sign of the Paris bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024 with viewing clips and meetings with sports high-level.
Jean-François Martins welcomes this initiative, which "allows to discover all the legendary event of the Paris Marathon, the values of the running and why not help detect future champions among the young.".
Last highlight of this project, the Paris Marathon on Sunday April 9 that all young people can live side wings, with their parents. They will have the ability to browse the last 200 meters and cross the finish line as the champions, who just arrive a few minutes later.
