(ATR) The selection of a 2019 Asian Games host city is the main item on the agenda for this week's Olympic Council of Asia General Assembly in Macau.
On Thursday, the General Assembly will meet at 9 a.m. local time at the Macau East Asia Games Dome. Dubai, Hanoi and Surabaya, Indonesia are the three candidates in the race. A press conference announcing the decision is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Each of OCA’s 45 member National Olympic Committees is eligible to vote.
Following the announcement, the OCA as well as the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau will host a gala dinner for delegates.
On Friday, the Association of National Olympic Committees Executive Council will meet at the Macau Galaxy. The meeting is the first for ANOC following the London Olympics. No major decisions are expected, but it will be the first time the 27-member panel discusses the 2012 Games.
Meetings are taking place throughout the week at the Galaxy, a sprawling, multi-hotel casino complex nestled in the city’s gambling district.
OCA’s Supervisory and Executive Committees meet Wednesday at the hotel, and the Finance Committee met Tuesday.
The IOC’s Olympic Solidarity commission is also expected to meet in Macau on Sunday.
On Tuesday, the OCA selected its final "Youth Reporters" for the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. The selection came following a day-long training process on the experience of covering the Asian Games.
