(ATR) For the first time since 1988, a U.S. President begins a term in office without an Olympic Games on the horizon in the U.S. Meanwhile, the possibility exists for the election of a U.S. President with Olympics experience in 2008.
The jury is still out on whether President Bush is an asset or liability to the New York campaign for 2012, to be decided in July, but for now, Mr. Bush wonâ??t have to worry about assembling the sort of inter-agency task force to handle security and other issues involved with hosting the Games that he did when he began his first term in 2001.
On Capitol Hill, the opening of a new session of the U.S. Congress is bringing changes to the lineup of legislators handling oversight for Olympic matters in the U.S.
