Jones to Return to Competition

Olympian Marion Jones is on her way back to competing in sports again, but not in athletics.

Before she competed as an Olympic sprinter, Jones played basketball for the University of North Carolina. The Phoenix Mercury drafted her in the 2003 WNBA Draft but she never played.

Jones worked out with Tulsa on Saturday before the club agreed to sign the, 34-year old who will play guard.

Tulsa Shock President Steve Swetoha said Jones is good addition to the team and deserves a second chance to compete in sports.

"She made some ill-advised decisions in the past, but everyone deserves a second chance to excel at something they love," Swetoha said. "The city of Tulsa gave a struggling franchise from Detroit a second chance, and I'm confident it will do the same for Marion. We couldn't be happier to have her on board."
