(ATR) The Olympic flame will be out before the night is over as the Beijing Olympics come to an end.
The Bird’s Nest Stadium is expected to be filled to its 91,000 seat capacity Sunday night for the two-hour ceremony, almost half the length of the opening on August 8.
Along with the parade of athletes, a handover ceremony from Beijing to London will be a highlight of the evening.
Led Zepplin guitarist Jimmy Page is to belt out the famous riff from the hit “Whole Lotta Love” while football superstar David Beckham will put toe to leather in the eight-minute production. A red double-decker bus will be featured part of the staging and Mayor Boris Johnson will receive the Olympic flag from his Beijing counterpart.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown will be watching from the stands, the only major foreign government leader attending the ceremony, compared to the nearly 90 at the opening ceremony.
The final medal of the Olympics will be presented to Kenyan runner Sammy.
