Do you know a sports team that could benefit from the help of an Olympian? The Z Team, which features struggling sports teams who receive a helping hand from a game-changing coach and Olympic legend, is now casting for its 2nd season. Youth teams representing any Olympic sport and from any country are invited to apply for the opportunity to be featured in an episode of the Olympic Channel original series.
During the production, unaccomplished youth teams will receive training and instruction from an Olympian for whom losing is not an option with the goal of increasing a team’s overall performance within a matter of days. Cameroon Olympic gold medallist and former Arsenal defender Lauren [Etamé Meyer] and Olympic gold medallist in beach volleyball Jackie Silva from Brazil have signed on to volunteer as a "super coach" for the upcoming season. Additional Olympic athletes will be announced at a later date.
"We’re looking for real-life youth sports teams that need help in the win column," said Olympic Channel Director of Original Programming Greggory Groggel. "We encourage any team that is willing to put in some hard work and improve from being a ‘Z’ team to an ‘A’ team to apply."
In the popular first season of The Z Team, eight youth teams from around the world were transformed by guest coaches including South Africa footballing legend Matthew Booth, Team Canada Olympic ice hockey hero Daniele Sauvageau, Team USA Olympic volleyball great Danielle Scott-Arruda, and Scotland Rugby Sevens star Colin Gregor.
