Biathlon Icon Uschi Disl Featured in New Episode of Legends Live On – Premieres 28 November
MADRID and SALZBURG – 26 November 2019 – The Olympic Channel and the International Biathlon Union (IBU) today announced an agreement to collaborate on content for the Olympic Channel global digital platform.
Biathlon has had a presence on the Olympic Channel since its launch in August 2016 with a dedicated sports page where fans can relive the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 and find coverage of the upcoming Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The Olympic Channel also features biathlon content through news stories and original programming such as the story of legendary German biathlete and Olympic gold medallist Uschi Disl in an upcoming episode of the original series Legends Live On, which premieres worldwide this Thursday, 28 November on the Olympic Channel.
"We look forward to working with IBU to help expand the reach of their sport and tell the stories behind their athletes to a broader audience," said Mark Parkman, general manager of the IOC’s global Olympic Channel. "As we look ahead to Lausanne 2020 and the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, fans around the world are sure to be inspired by the stories of these athletes who bring such excitement and passion to the sport of biathlon."
"We are delighted to partner with the Olympic Channel at this crucial time for biathlon. In our recently adopted Strategic Plan, entitled Target 26, we set the goal of increasing the global reach of our sport. The cooperation with the Olympic Channel will help connect with Olympic fans worldwide and bring the entertainment and thrilling competitions that biathlon provides to a larger audience," said Olle Dahlin, IBU President.
IBU becomes the 93rd federation partner who has signed similar agreements with the Olympic Channel including International Olympic Sports Federations (IFs), recognised federations and organisations, multi-sport organisers and non-recognised federations.
In addition to collaborating on live events, the Olympic Channel actively works with its federation partners to present event coverage, highlights, magazine shows, news coverage and original programming providing an additional platform to distribute content that are complementary to current broadcast and distribution arrangements.
