The week begins as the Olympic Channel takes you behind the scenes of the life of professional snowboarder Mark McMorris and his relationship with his physical therapist Brad Jones in the "Gold Medal Entourage" series. As you could imagine preparing for the Olympics can be tough on the body, especially with a previous injury. McMorris reveals what it was like to compete in the Sochi Olympic Games and how Jones helped him through one the toughest times of his career. Just before the Sochi Olympics McMorris suffered a broken rib while competing in the 2014 Winter X Games.Though it was tough and despite his injury, McMorris was able to secure a bronze medal during the slope-style event at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
A new episode of "Gold Medal Entourage" will be featured every Monday.
The Channel series "Generation Rise" will also premiere today with eight new episodes. This series features 2016 Rio Olympic athletes and others working to make a name for themselves in the Middle East and North Africa. Some of the athletes include Hasnaa Lachgar, Sheik Saeed Al Maktoum, Yousef Mirza and Farhan Sultan.
On Tuesdays, the "Z team" program highlights some of the most unaccomplished youth sports teams receiving a helping hand from Olympic legends and coaches. In this week's episode, American professional basketball player Kara Wolters will be traveling to Mexico to assist the El Palomar Basketball team.
The first three episodes of the new series "Hitting the Wall" premieres this Wednesday. Rio 2016 silver medalist fencer Enzo Lefort, Sochi 2014 Olympic gold medalist curler Kaitlyn Lawesand others will be putting some of the fitness leaders of the world to the test by challenging them to complete each athlete's personal workout routines.
The "Heroes of the Future" series continues on Thursday as each segmentputs a spotlight on various young athletes from around the world as they prepare to compete in the Olympic Games.
You can expect four more episodes of "Transform My Meal" this Thursday. The lifestyle cooking program partners world class chefs with Olympic athletes as they learn how to change their eating habits by turning mundane dishes into gourmet meals without sacrificing nutrition.
To end the week, you can take a look back in time as "On the Line: 100 Meters" relives unique moments in the history of athletics, each episode centering on a single Games and story. On Friday the focus will be on Los Angeles and the 1932 Summer Games. During the 1932 Games, Thomas Edward ‘Eddie’ Tolan also nicknamed Midnight Express broke the Olympic record in the 100 meter race with a time of 10.3 seconds. He also set a record time of 21.2 seconds for the 200 meter race. Tolan then became the first American -American to be named the "World's Fastest Human".
The Olympic Channel is streaming the ANOC Awards live from Doha, Qatar. The ANOC Awards plan tocelebrate the achievements of NOCs, athletes, coaches and others this year.
