(ATR) Achievements of athletes, coaches and more were recognized during the 12th annual LA Sports Awards on Feb. 27 at the Beverly Hilton.
Allyson Felix, who won two of her six career Olympic gold medals at the Rio Games, was the recipient of the Sportswoman of the Year award. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball player Mike Trout, who won a second American League Most Valuable Player Award last season, won Sportsman of the Year. Current LA Dodgers manager Dave Roberts received the Coach of the Year award. U.S. Olympic women's water polo coach Adam Krikorian received the first ever Extraordinary Achievement in Olympic Sport Award. Lastly, former USOC chairman and president of the 1984 LA organizing committee Peter Ueberroth took home a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Also during the Awards, the "Top 10 sports moments of 2016" selected by online fan voting and a 11-member media panel were revealed.In first place was the Rams football team receiving NFL approval to return to Los Angeles.
