MADRID – 24 May 2018 – The Olympic Channel released today the official trailer and artwork for its newest feature documentary - The People’s Fighters. The second film in the Five Rings Films series chronicles 50 years of unprecedented Cuban boxing success through the legendary careers of Teofilo Stevenson and his gold-medal winning countrymen. Stevenson, a three-time Olympic gold medallist, famously turned down a million-dollar offer to fight Muhammad Ali and turn professional in favour of his beloved homeland.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Patriots Day, Deepwater Horizon) and produced by Hollywood legend Frank Marshall (Jason Bourne, Jurassic World, Indiana Jones) and Mandalay Sports Media, The People’s Fighters also traces the triumphs and challenges faced by Cuban boxing today, and spotlights the rising local talent – both at home and abroad - that is paving a future for the sport. Featuring exclusive archival footage, interviews, and remarkable access in Havana and beyond, the film provides an authoritative look at the country’s seminal boxing culture.

The full film will be available 31 May 2018 on olympicchannel.com.

The Olympic Channel’s signature series, Five Rings Films, is a five-episode series of incisive and entertaining documentaries directed by some of the biggest names in film from around the world.
