(ATR) Delegates from 12 NOCs are holding meetings with European Games organizers in the Belarusian capital.

The two-day series of meetings is the first NOC open day held by Games chiefs.

Officials from the NOCs of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Denmark, Great Britain, Hungary, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Romania, Russia and Turkey are in attendance. EOC senior consultant Pierce O’Callaghan and EOC sports consultant Makis Asimakopoulos are also taking part in sessions to discuss Games preparations.

The 15-strong sport competition program, accreditation, medical and anti-doping, volunteers and ticketing are among the agenda items.

Delegates will also tour sports venues that will host the multisport event in 2019 and check out the site of the athletes’ village. They will visit Minsk Arena (gymnastics, track cycling), Falcon Club (badminton), Sports Palace (wrestling, sambo), Palova Arena (3x3 basketball), Dinamo Stadium (athletics) and Sporting Club (shooting shotgun).

Minsk 2019 CEO George Katulin welcomed the NOCs, saying it would be an intensive two days of work.

"It is important to start our first NOC open day because you will open not only the secrets of preparations but our passion," he said.

"We expect to receive the feedback from NOC officials because you are professionals who take care of athletes who are the main focus of the Games."

EOC consultant O’Callaghan said he was confident Minsk would build on the success of the inaugural Games in Baku in 2015.

"I’m sure that MEGOC will do its best to host such a prestigious event on a high level," he said.

"Over these two days, we’ll have an opportunity to see what has already been done and to discuss all the areas of preparation for the 2nd European Games in Minsk."

The 2nd European Games will be held from June 21 to 30, 2019 at 12 sports venues.

More than 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 200 medal events in 15 sports at the Games. Competitions in 10 sports will serve as qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympics.
