ANOC Schedule
The Association of National Olympic Committees has supplied the schedule for its upcoming General Assembly in Moscow exclusively to Around the Rings.
Scheduled for April 11 to 17, the Assembly's busiest day seems to be the 13th, with the opening ceremony and a "Grand Reception" at the iconic and newly restored Bolshoi Theater. A performance of the "Swan Lake" ballet is also on tap.
Continental associations meet on April 12. The world’s sports ministers meet April 16 and 17, and the IOC Executive Board holds its joint meeting with the ANOC General Assembly on the 17th as well.

QOC Promotes National Sports Day
The secretary general of the Qatar Olympic Committee says preparations to host National Sports Day are in full swing with an enthusiastic response from both the public and private sector.
Addressing a press conference at QOC headquarters on Sunday, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thanisaid that next month's occasion will be held in cooperation with various government organizations, clubs and municipalities.
"The National SportsDay will be held on February 14 with a walking program on the Corniche and Aspire Zone, both which will begin at 9:00 AM. The walk at Aspire Zone is for ladies and girls. Differentvillages and cities outside Doha will team up to have their own programs," he said.
Sheikh Saoud added that all Qataris, even expatriates, should participate in National Sports Day "according to your means and possibilities."
While the QOC is not controlling the program, he suggested participation in sports"which fit in the culture of Qatar."
By a decree from the Deputy Emir of Qatar, every Tuesday in the second week of February each year will be National Sports Day.
Lithuania Rejects Transfer of Allegiance
The National Olympic Committee of Lithuania voted to disallow pentathlete Donata Rimsaite to transfer allegiance to Russia.
"The national Olympic committee would not allow her to take part in the London Olympics ... she has chosen such a road herself," NOC president Arturas Poviliunas told reporters.
In a vote of 49 to 57, the NOCL said the silver medalist from the 2010 pentathlon world championships will not be able to represent Russia in London.
Rimsaite married a Russian and moved there in 2010 for better training conditions and personal reasons.
