(ATR) United States athletes will wear Nike through the 2020 Olympics.
The sportswear company extended its deal to provide apparel, podium gear, and footwear for the United States Olympic Committee on November 24. Nike has been a partner of the USOC since 2005.
The extension of the deal also includes outfitting U.S. athletes on the podium at the 2015 and 2019 Pan and Parapan American Games in Toronto and Lima and the next three Youth Olympic Games.
"We are proud to extend our partnership with Nike through 2020, a company that has helped advance sport at a global level," Lisa Baird, USOC chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
"Nike innovations have long been instrumental for many Team USA athletes as they perform at the Olympic or Paralympic Games, and we are inspired by the memorable looks and styles Nike has created for Team USA athletes during the Games and on the medal stand."
Atos Pool Party
Atos helped open the Markham Pan Am/Parapan Am Centre with a pool party on November 23.
The Olympics TOP sponsor is a partner for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto and the naming sponsor for the venue.
Badminton, water polo and table tennis will be held in the venue, situated in the city of Markham, Ontario just outside Toronto.
Water polo competition at the Pan American Games will be a qualifier for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
The $78.5 million venue will house a 10-lane 50m Olympic-sized swimming pool and a triple gymnasium fit to host gymnastics, badminton and volleyball events.
"Markham is now home to one of the newest and best athletic facilities in Ontario and Canada that will serve the residents of this community for decades to come," Saäd Rafi, chief executive officer of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee, said in a statement.
"Already, we’ve heard rave reviews from top athletes when they competed here at the 2014 Pan American Badminton Championships."
Olympic Coins Issued
The Central Bank of Brazil will begin issuing commemorative Olympic coins on November 28.
Nine coins will be part of the first release including one gold, four silver, and four "common" coins. The gold coin has a face value of 10 reais ($4), the silver coins have a face of five reais ($2), and the common coins have a face value of one real (40 cents).
A total of 36 commemorative coins will be available by the Olympics begin.
The gold coin commemorates Christ the Redeemer and the 100 meter dash, featuring the Olympic motto "Citius, Altius, Fortius." The gold coins will retail for $460.
The silver and common coins feature the Olympic sports of rowing, athletics, cycling, swimming, beach volleyball, and golf. The silver coins will retail for $76, while the common coins retail for $5.
