(ATR) Around the Rings takes a look at the various championships taking place at the start of 2017.

(ATR) Around the Rings takes a look at the various championships taking place at the start of 2017.

The 25th IHF Men's World Handball Championships kicked off the new year beginning Jan. 11. The championships are being held in Paris, France and will conclude on Jan. 29.

The 2017 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Kansas City was held from Jan. 14 to 22. Medalists includedKaren Chen, Ashley Wagner, Mariah Bell and Mirai Nagasu for the ladies, Nathan Chen, Vincent Zhou, Jason Brown and Grant Hochstein for the men's, Denney/Frazier, Castelli/Tran, Cain/LeDuc and Stellato/Bartholomay for the pairs and lastly Shibutani/Shibutani, Chock/Bates, Hubbell/Donohue and Pogrebinsky/Benoit in the dance competition.

To end the month, the European Figure Skating Championships are being held in Ostrava, Czech Republic.The event is taking place from Jan. 25-29.
