(ATR)New rail lines in Tokyo will connect athletes, fans, and officials to 2020 Olympic venues.
On Tuesday, the East Japan Railway Company announced plans to build three new train lines to directly link Haneda Airport to stations in central Tokyo.
One of the lines will make stops at Tokyo Olympic venues.Japanese newspaperThe Yomiuri Shimbunsays the Rinkai Line to will pay a call to the Rinkai waterfront area where canoe events will take place. The total construction cost is predicted to be approximately $52 billion.
East Japan Railway Company hopes to have the train running between Haneda Airport and the canoe venue by the time the Games start.The project for Tokyo's already-extensive railway system should take about 10 years to complete.
Haneda is one of two international airports that service Tokyo.
