THE Executive Committee of the Sixth Nasser bin Hamad Football Championship, scheduled to take place later this month, had its first meeting with representatives of the participating teams.
There are 16 teams taking part in this year’s edition tournament, organised and supported by Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Nasser's Media and Information Office director and Executive Committee chairman Tawfeeq Al Salehi chaired the meeting, which was also attended by tournament director Mohammed Qassim and committee members.
Al Salehi welcomed the teams officials and conveyed Shaikh Nasser’s best wishes for them this year.
He affirmed the programme of the draw ceremony that will take place at Khalifa Bin Salman Park in Al Hidd on Friday and urging all the teams to be present on time.
Al Salehi also informed the teams that Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town and Riffa Club new Stadium in Hunainiya as the tournament venue this year
Al Salehi noted that the knock-out stages will take place at Khalifa Sports City Stadium, while the venue for the final match and the awarding ceremony is yet to be decided.
On his part, Technical Committee head Hassan Ismail explained the rule and regulations of this year’s event, noting the directives of Bahrain Football Association president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa to provide all that would contribute to the tournament’s success.
Ismail stressed on the importance of submitting all the players’ identity cards in the next two days in order to approve the final line-ups of all the teams and their jersey colours.
