The Italian company Myrtha Pools, with over 50 years of experience in the business, will be responsible for building and implementing two removable pools at the Palau Sant Jordi for the 15th FINA World Championships Barcelona 2013. Members of the BCN2013 Organizing Committee have signed an agreement with the renowned company during the 2nd FINA World Aquatics Convention in Moscow. Directors of the company based in Castiglione delle Stiviere previously visited the Barcelona 2013 headquarters to convince event organizers of closing the deal.
Roberto Colletto, CEO of Myrtha Pools, and Fernando Carpena, president of the Barcelona 2013 Executive Committee, have signed the contract at the stand of the Italian company in the Hotel Crown Plaza. Myrtha Pools will build two pools: one for the competition (50x25 meters and 3 meters deep), which will be implemented at the Palau Sant Jordi, and a second one for training (50x20 meters and 2 meters deep), which will be set up in the parking area of Barcelona’s famous sports facility.
Myrtha Pools is a commercial division of A&T Europe S.p.a. Founded in 1961 in Castiglione delle Stiviere (MN, Italy), it quickly became Italy's première swimming pool Company, and is now recognised as a leader in the European swimming pool market. In the past, the company built pools in which some of the world’s most important competitions were held. The last projects were the removable pools for the U.S. trials in Omaha (USA), which were held in June, and the ones implemented for the 14th FINA World Championships held in Shanghai, where the first world records were set after the swimsuit ban.
To date, Myrtha Pools has built pools in over 70 countries all over the world. The company’s agent in Spain, Alpe Pools, is located close to Barcelona, in Esplugues de Llobregat.
The construction of the training pool for the 15th FINA World Championships Barcelona 2013 will commence at the beginning of June, while the construction for the competition pool will start on 17 June, approximately one month prior to the Opening Ceremony.
