The team from the Municipal Olympic Company (EOM in Portuguese), responsible for coordinating de City Hall’s projects for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, will have its eyes and ears wide opened during the World Cup.
Based on past experiences such as the 2012 London Olympic Games, the 2014 Sochi Winter Games, the Federations Cup and the 2013 World Youth Day, the company developed the "EOM Observer Program in the World Cup". In this program the employees of the EOM will voluntarily analyze more than 20 topics related to the Fifa event, such as transport, food, look of the city and security.
The observation runs from June 9th to July 15th and will be done during the official events, football matches and even off duty, at the criteria of each observer. The registrations were immediate: of the approximately 120 employees, 50 have registered voluntarily, including the CEO Joaquim Monteiro and three directors. "The program will raise the experience of the employees in large events and will generate a report to help the EOM and the City Hall in the preparation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Any remarks will be important. Since the team has embraced the idea, we will guarantee information is collected from many regions of the city of Rio de Janeiro and even other host cities", Monteiro notes.
