Munich, Applicant City for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, has been officially invited to attend and observe the annual General Assembly of the European Olympic Committee (EOC) in Lisbon on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 November.

Munich 2018’s delegation will be headed by Olympian and successful businessman, Willy Bogner, who will make his first international appearance as CEO of the Bid Committee.

Munich 2018 is honoured by the invitation. The General Assembly is a good opportunity to learn about ideas and suggestions for a successful application from the members of the European Olympic family. The Munich delegation hopes to get an impression of what issues are important to the individual National Olympic Committees.

Willy Bogner said: “I am delighted to be attending the EOC General Assembly because of the many opportunities it offers – the opportunity to introduce ourselves to members of the European Olympic family; the opportunity to reacquaint ourselves with old friends; and the opportunity to begin new friendships. We are going to Lisbon to listen carefully to our potential partners and to learn more about the expectations of the EOC members.”

Munich 2018 is steadily building its in-house team of executives and experts as the campaign moves towards its first big milestone - the submission of a detailed response to the IOC’s Questionnaire for Applicant Cities. This “mini-bid book” is due to be sent to the IOC on 15 March 2010 and will give the Olympic Movement the first details behind Munich’s compelling and dynamic Games concept.
