MORE THAN 600 ATHLETES JOIN FIRST "EXPERT CONNECTION"

The premiere of the "Expert Connection" series on the Panam Sports Channel was an outstanding success as athletes, trainers and National Olympic Committees throughout the Americas received excellent advice from renowned Sports Psychologist Dr. Jose Maria Buceta.

The series will continue next Tuesday, April 21 as Senior Sport Psychologist for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee Dr. Sean McCann joins the program to deliver his expertise to English-speaking athletes.

MEXICO CITY (April 17, 2020) — The first edition of the "Expert Connection" series on the Panam Sports Channel exceeded expectations with a lively presentation and conversation with athletes by Dr. Jose Maria Buceta.

More than 600 athletes joined the live program on April 16, with many submitting questions before the program began and many others utilizing the chat feature on the Channel to ask for advice and guidance during these uncertain times.

Panam Sports is thrilled with the amount of participation from athletes, coaches and National Olympic Committees across the region and the beneficial discussion that was generated by their questions. The Organization hopes that the athletes who joined the conversation now feel more equipped to handle the stress and anxiety produced by this worldwide pandemic and will utilize the strategies presented to maintain a positive outlook and strong mental focus.

A large thank you to Dr. Buceta for making the "Expert Connection" series get off to a great start with his energy and passion for helping athletes. Anyone who was unable to join the live program can still watch Dr. Buceta’s presentation and advice on-demand through the Panam Sports Channel later today. Additional resources from Dr. Buceta will also be available to access from the Channel.

Following the first edition, Panam Sports will utilize the feedback and experience gained to continue to improve the live program as well as the user-experience for the athletes, coaches and National Olympic Committees who join the conversation.

The series will continue next Tuesday, April 21 with Dr. Sean McCann joining the program live at 4 PM ET to deliver his expertise and guidance to English-speaking athletes. Dr. McCann will give a presentation and answer questions from athletes related to "Mental Skills & Strategies to Cope with Uncertainty and Distraction".

Sean McCann, Ph.D. is a licensed Psychologist who has worked for the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee for 29 years. He has traveled with the last 13 US Olympic Teams as a sport psychologist during the Games. In his work for the USOPC, he works directly with teams and coaches, from mental skills seminars and workshops about Olympic pressure to individual sessions with athletes.

Sean also regularly works on the road with teams at training camps and competitions. In addition to his work for Team USA, Sean has worked with professional athletes in a variety of disciplines from ball sports to auto racing.
