FIFA Presidential Saga Nears End

The increasingly messy FIFA presidential race comes to an end Wednesday.

Iincumbent Sepp Blatteris the only candidate after this weekend's withdrawl ofQatari challenger Mohammed Bin Hammam.

The vote of 208 national member federations is tops on the agenda at the annual FIFA Congress, running Monday to Wednesday in Zurich.

Around the Rings will be on the scene for the duration of the gathering. Be sure to follow World Football Insider for complete coverage.

As the July 6 vote for a 2018 Winter Olympic host city nears, Around the Rings has compiled information from the bid books of Annecy, Munich and PyeongChang into a series of daily features known as By the Book.

The series begins Monday with a look at the competition dates proposed by each of the three candidates.

Tuesday Talk

This week’s Tuesday Talk is with Lars Lundov, CEO of SportEvent Denmark.

He and his Danish colleagues are charged simply with helping their small Scandinavian country win hosting rights to big sporting events, and they’ve done so with marked regularity.

Check back Tuesday for Lundov's take on why Denmark places such an importance on hosting elite sport, why international federations keep choosing Denmark for their events and whether the country can ever host an Olympic Games.

Politicians, Londoners Debate Olympic Impact

London Assembly members will join British youngsters Wednesday for an outreach event centered around a simple question: are the Olympics good for London?

Participants will debate the potential impact of the 2012 Summer Games while learning more about how the city government works.
