Monaco Prepares for Sportel -- Conferences and Conventions

(ATR) The 2017 Sportel Monaco conference will feature a full three-day program that begins on Monday, Oct. 23 with an expert panel discussion on the "evolution of UEFA competitions and implications for pay-tv".

The 2017 edition of the convention will have panel discussions and presentations ranging from athlete and spectator data analytics, illegal betting and match-fixing, media rights, digital marketing and changes in sport content delivery technology.

The World Sports Marketing and Media Convention is billed as a platform to "meet the elite".

"It is a great satisfaction to experience an event like Sportel, with almost 30 years existence, which continues to grow year after year," Sportel Monaco Mediax CEO Laurent Puons said in a statement.

"It is truly phenomenal to see how important Sportel conventions are to the industry and a privilege to us that the world leading sports entities trust us with their business."

The conference will offer a daily networking breakfast along with numerous panel discussions for delegates to attend. Details on the full list of panels and program for Sportel Monaco are soon to be announced.

The Sportel Awards will once again take place during the convention this year. During the ceremony the best international sports videos and illustrated books will be rewarded. The awards ceremony will be held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco on Oct. 24.

Sportel Monaco will conclude on Oct. 26.

Peace and Sport Names 2018 Host

Tunis, Tunisia will host the 2018 edition of the annual Peace and Sport International Forum.

Organizers believe the 11th edition of the forum will help "strengthen the stabilization process in Tunisia".

Peace and Sport founder Joel Bouzou signed an agreement with Tunisian President Béji Caid Essebsi to bring the forum to the country at a meeting between the two leaders on Oct. 10. They discussed how the legacy of the project can benefit Tunisian society.

The annual conference brings together leaders in politics, business and sport to talk about and share ideas on how to use sport to improve youth education and increase dialogue and social unity.

"I warmly thank Tunisia for its commitment to organize the Peace and Sport International Forum which gathers key figures from the world of peace and the world of sport," Bouzou said in a statement.

The 11th Peace and Sport International Forum will take place in October 2018.

Host City 2017 Speaker List Extended

PyeongChang 2018 Organizing Committee president Hee Beom Lee and London 2017 IAAF World Championships director of operations Pierce O'Callaghan are among the latest speakers listed for the Host City 2017 conference.

The two will be speaking along with WADA president Craig Reedie,FIBA secretary general and IOC member Patrick Baumann, FIS/AIOWF secretary general Sarah Lewis and more.

"Host City is a really good conference involving cities that want to host events. Anything that can be done to put sport and cities together at an early stage is a good idea and I look forward to this happening in Glasgow and Beijing," Reedie said in a statement.

Host City 2017 will take place at Glasgow's Technology and Innovation Center in Scotland from Nov. 28-29.

"Every year we are immensely honored by the level of speakers who choose to participate in Host City and 2017 has already surpassed all expectations," said Host City conference director Ben Avison. "With senior representation from the owners, organizers and hosts of the world’s greatest events, Host City 2017 is set to be the best Host City ever."

The conference will focus on how cities and organizers can work together to bid and host sustainable events. Events can range from sports championships to business expos and more.

Both conferences will give the International Olympic Committee the opportunity to sit down with, and better understand, future host cities as the bidding process for the Winter Games undergoes revisions.
