MINSK EUROPEAN GAMES BROADCASTING CENTER TO COME ON STREAM ON 17 JUNE

The international broadcasting center (IBC), which will broadcast the 2nd European Games, will be launched in Minsk on 17 June. Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas visited the Football Indoor Center to inspect the progress in setting up the IBC on 6 June. The 2nd European Games will be broadcast to 130 countries, including 47 European states, which will be perfect advertising and promotion of Belarus in the world.

The IBC is a fully equipped center providing 24/7 broadcasting. It is divided into several zones: a zone for domestic and national broadcaster, right holders, the main television logistic warehouse (storage space for filmmaking equipment), technical area, and others. During the games the center will coordinate actions of television crews, technical means. The center will also form the archives of competitions, process materials, prepare video highlights, audio of commentators. Additionally, the IBC will provide videos for news services, a package of programs for broadcast to sports facilities. The center is ready and will go fully operational on 17 June, manager of the center Dmitry Shilo reported to the prime minister. It will stay open from 6:00 in the morning till 2.00 at night. To convert the Football Indoor Center into the broadcasting center, a great amount of work has been done. The total area of technological and office space is approximately 3,800m2. Fabric air dispersion systems have been installed to cool large indoor space. The center has been equipped with additional alarm and fire-extinguishing systems. The power supply system has been upgraded.

"The major purpose of the center is to collect information from all the venues, process video signal and competition results and distribute them through four international TV channels," Dmitry Shilo said. International Sports Broadcasting (ISB) will be the host broadcaster for the games. During the visit to the center Sergei Rumas spoke with Executive Director of the company Ursula Romero. She was behind live broadcast of many international competitions. In Minsk Ursula Romero will monitor clear transmission from every sport venue of the games. Ursula Romero expressed satisfaction with the preparation of the center.

Sergei Rumas asked whether all the works were on schedule. "There are no serious unsettled issues today. Equipment installations are well underway. The center will be able to accommodate up to 400 people at a time," Dmitry Shilo said. The prime minister emphasized the need to ensure good transport connections between all the sport venues, including the broadcasting center. CEO of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee George Katulin assured him that the issue would be discussed in the near future.
